Tanzanian Client Visits Dongan for a Modular Small Cold Room

On July 24, 2025, a client from Tanzania visited Harbin Dongan Building Sheets Co., Ltd. to inspect the company’s manufacturing facilities and discuss modular small cold storage products. The visit was driven by the client’s practical product requirements, with discussions focusing on product configuration, manufacturing conditions, transportation and potential project supply arrangements.

For small and medium-sized cold-chain applications, cold storage facilities do not always need to follow a large, permanent construction model. As demand develops across food storage, agricultural produce preservation, food-service distribution and small-scale logistics, modular cold rooms that can be configured according to available space and actual usage requirements offer a more flexible option for different temperature-controlled storage needs.

The Tanzanian client’s visit was aimed at understanding whether this type of product could meet local project requirements. Rather than relying only on product photographs, catalogues and online communication, an on-site factory visit provided a more direct way to understand the manufacturing process and discuss potential cold room dimensions, panel configurations and related components based on the actual project.

During the production visit, the Dongan team introduced the manufacturing and fabrication processes for cold storage panels and related products, explaining stages such as panel production, dimensional control and finished-product inspection. The client reviewed product specifications, manufacturing conditions and supply capabilities and discussed possible configurations for modular small cold rooms.

One of the key advantages of a small modular cold room is its flexibility. The system can be configured according to the available space and storage requirements. For projects with limited space or a need for relatively quick deployment, appropriate dimensional planning and a standardized approach can help reduce installation complexity. Since cold storage products also need to be transported from the factory to the project location, packaging, container loading and protection during transportation need to be considered as part of the overall supply plan.

The discussion therefore went beyond cold storage panels alone. Dongan is mainly involved in steel structures, building envelope systems and various cold storage projects, with experience in supplying cold storage panels, cold room doors and related enclosure systems. Based on the Tanzanian client’s requirements, both sides discussed enclosure configurations, product combinations, production schedules and export supply arrangements.

For an overseas customer, a factory inspection is also an important part of evaluating a supplier’s actual capabilities. By observing the production environment and fabrication processes directly, the client can gain a clearer understanding of the company’s manufacturing organization. Face-to-face project discussions can also help identify potential coordination issues involving product specifications, packaging, transportation and on-site installation at an early stage.

The visit provided another opportunity for Dongan to engage with cold-chain project demand in East Africa. Tanzania has established agricultural, food-processing and agricultural distribution sectors, creating practical applications for temperature-controlled storage within related supply chains. For some small and medium-sized projects, modular cold rooms can be configured according to available space and operating requirements, giving them a degree of market adaptability.

Following the visit, both sides will continue technical and commercial discussions as the project develops and further confirm cold storage product configurations, production schedules and supply arrangements. Dongan will continue to draw on its experience in cold storage and building envelope projects to provide overseas customers with modular cold storage products and supply support suited to actual application requirements.
