On March 10, 2025, a client from Kazakhstan visited Harbin Dongan Building Sheets Co., Ltd. to inspect the company’s manufacturing facilities and discuss a modular cold storage project. The visit was based on an ongoing project under development, with both sides focusing on cold storage product configurations, enclosure systems, manufacturing and supply, as well as practical considerations for project execution.
For a modular cold storage facility, the requirement is not simply to supply a quantity of cold storage panels. Panels, cold room doors, connection components and related enclosure elements need to work together to form a complete insulated space. For overseas projects, the products must also go through manufacturing, packaging, transportation and final assembly at the destination. A supplier’s understanding of product coordination and project execution can therefore have a direct impact on procurement and installation.
The Kazakh client’s visit was intended to gain a clearer understanding of these aspects through an on-site inspection. Compared with evaluating a supplier through product information and online meetings alone, a factory visit allows the customer to directly observe manufacturing conditions and discuss product specifications, dimensions, configurations and supply arrangements based on the actual project.
During the production visit, the Dongan team introduced the manufacturing process for cold storage panels and related building envelope products, explaining panel fabrication, dimensional control, finished-product inspection and packaging. The client reviewed the company’s production capabilities and different configuration options and discussed specific requirements for the planned project.
One of the main topics was how the modular cold storage facility could be configured according to the available site and intended use. Unlike large permanent cold storage facilities, modular systems often need to achieve an efficient layout within a limited space while balancing insulation performance, usable internal space and installation efficiency. Clear communication about dimensions, panel thickness, door configurations and connection methods is therefore important before procurement and production begin.
Kazakhstan’s climatic conditions also make the thermal performance of cold storage enclosures an important consideration. In regions with significant temperature differences, the enclosure system is not only used to separate the storage space but also needs to maintain stable thermal performance. During the discussions, the client considered relevant product configurations and enclosure solutions in relation to local project conditions.
Dongan is mainly involved in steel structures, building envelope systems and various cold storage projects, with experience in supplying cold storage panels, cold room doors and related enclosure systems. The discussion therefore extended beyond individual products to practical project issues such as production schedules, product combinations, export packaging, logistics and on-site assembly.
For an overseas customer, a factory inspection is also an important part of establishing confidence in a potential supplier. By observing the manufacturing environment and production processes directly, the client can make a clearer assessment of whether the supplier has the capacity to meet project requirements. Face-to-face communication also helps clarify technical and commercial details at an early stage and reduce potential communication gaps later.
The visit provided Dongan with another opportunity to better understand cold-chain project demand in the Central Asian market. With the continued development of food processing, agricultural storage and logistics, modular cold storage systems can serve a range of temperature-controlled applications. For projects that require flexible construction or phased development, modular solutions can also offer practical advantages in transportation and installation.
Following the visit, both sides will continue technical and commercial discussions regarding the modular cold storage project and further confirm product configurations, production schedules and supply arrangements as the project progresses. Dongan will continue to draw on its experience in cold storage and building envelope projects to provide overseas customers with modular cold storage products and supporting supply services suited to specific project requirements.
