Cold Chain Warehouse Project: 16,000 sqm PU Panel Solution

How do you build a cold chain warehouse that can perform reliably in extreme cold conditions?

This 16,000 sqm project in Manzhouli provides a clear answer through advanced insulation design and precision engineering.

Manzhouli city is located at the junction of the borders of China, Russia, and Mongolia. In view of the booming trade between China and Russia, the demand for cold storage in the Manzhouli area is continuously increasing.

The Manzhouli Land Port International Logistics Center serves as a key hub for cross-border trade. Due to severe temperature fluctuations in the region, the cold chain warehouse required a highly efficient insulation system. To meet this demand, we supplied 16,000 square meters of high-density polyurethane sandwich panels. This project demonstrates how a well-designed cold chain warehouse can achieve long-term thermal stability and energy efficiency.

What Makes a High-Performance Cold Chain Warehouse

A cold chain warehouse is designed to maintain strict temperature control for sensitive goods such as food and pharmaceuticals. In extreme climates, insulation performance becomes the most critical factor.

For this project, we selected PU sandwich panels due to their low thermal conductivity and strong sealing performance. These panels form a continuous insulation envelope that minimizes heat transfer. As a result, the cold chain warehouse can maintain a stable internal temperature regardless of external weather conditions.

In addition, our engineering team calculated the optimal panel thickness based on local climate data. This ensured that the warehouse operates efficiently while reducing long-term energy consumption.

Cold Chain Warehouse Insulation Design Using PU Sandwich Panels

Effective insulation design is essential for any cold chain warehouse. In this project, we applied a tongue-and-groove joint system to connect each panel tightly. This design eliminates thermal bridges, which are a common cause of energy loss and frost formation.

We also optimized the panel layout across the entire 16,000 sqm surface. By reducing the number of joints, we significantly improved the airtightness of the cold chain warehouse. This not only enhances temperature stability but also lowers operating costs.

Furthermore, the PU core was engineered with fire-resistant properties to meet international safety standards. This ensures that the cold chain warehouse delivers both thermal performance and operational safety.

Precision Manufacturing for Cold Chain Warehouse Construction

High-quality manufacturing plays a critical role in cold chain warehouse performance. All panels for this project were produced using automated continuous production lines. This process ensures uniform foam density and consistent panel quality.

Strict quality control measures were applied throughout production. Each batch was inspected to guarantee strong bonding between the steel sheets and the PU core. As a result, all materials delivered to the construction site met the highest standards.

Compared to traditional construction methods, this level of precision significantly reduces installation errors and improves the overall durability of the cold chain warehouse.

Efficient Installation of a Large Cold Chain Warehouse

Installation efficiency is crucial in large-scale cold chain warehouse projects. For this project, each panel was labeled and delivered according to a pre-planned sequence. This approach streamlined logistics and improved on-site coordination.

Our technical team also provided on-site guidance during key installation stages, including corner detailing and door frame assembly. Thanks to precise manufacturing and careful planning, all components fit together seamlessly.

This method reduced construction time and ensured that the cold chain warehouse achieved optimal sealing performance. The final structure not only performs efficiently but also maintains long-term reliability.
